Kumi Construction Management Corporation (KUMI) is actively seeking a dynamic and results-driven part-time Business Development Professional to join our team in the New York City region. This individual will play a critical role in identifying new business opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and expanding KUMI’s presence within the A/E/C industry. As a key contributor to our growth strategy, the ideal candidate will be passionate about relationship-building, knowledgeable about the local market, and eager to connect our technical expertise with client needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing -- architecture, engineering, or construction management are a plus.
Industry Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business development and/or marketing in the A/E/C sector, i.e., A/E/C firms, public agencies, private developers, or general contractors.
- Familiarity with the project lifecycle and procurement processes (e.g., RFQs, RFPs, SOQs).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and presentation skills – both written and verbal.
- Client relationship management – ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
- Proposal and pursuit development – working closely with technical staff to develop winning strategies.
- CRM proficiency (e.g., Deltek Vision, Salesforce, Unanet).
- Ability to identify project pursuits.
- Knowledge of marketing best practices
Ability to travel and attend networking events, conferences, etc.
RESPONSIBLITIES
- Identify and research potential prime consultants and opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, including public agencies and prime consultants.
- Prepare proposal submission packages for prime consultants and owner agencies, including win strategies, proposal management plans, and content production.
- Attend pre-proposal meetings, industry events, conferences, and meetings to build relationships and generate leads.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve revenue targets.
- Search for RFPs, RFQs, and project leads through client-based platforms.
- Update the contract holder’s spreadsheet for New York agencies and track when contracts will expire
- Review capital improvement projects for New York agencies
- Assist with the creation of marketing materials
